   KPSNA 2008 Charitable Report

Dear KPSNA Members, Donors, Supporters, and Friends:

We hope you that you and your family are in the best of health and well being.  On behalf of the KPSNA Committee, PCA Committee, and the hard working volunteer team, it is our pleasure to present to you the 2008 Annual Report of Charitable Activities undertaken by KPSNA and PCA of USA.

Thank you and your families for your generous donations to support many charitable activities. Words are not enough to describe our gratitude to you for your firm commitment in making a difference in the lives of our community members in education, health, and social aspects. Since the end of 2005, we have received more than $780,607 in donations from you, and we have already distributed $655,868 for various charitable projects. We are proud to let you know that we have been able to keep our promise of no management fees. This report will reassure you that we take your commitment seriously. We are doing everything we can to ensure that every dollar earned by your hard work is spent wisely and that we are fully accountable.

Of all of our charitable activities, our most ambitious project is to provide scholarships to needy students from our community back home. As we have communicated to you last year, we have been working closely with Umiya Parivar and are trying our best to establish a fair, unbiased, transparent, and accountable system to make sure that every dollar donated is utilized wisely. Our committee members have been to India and have reviewed the procedures personally and feel comfortable with the process.  Following is the summary of the scholarship project from its inception.

We have made incredible progress in the last three years with your generous support.  We are about to reach our goal of over 1,500 student sponsorships every year, and, considering your commitment in this project, we are sure that we will not be disappointed.

On building the infrastructure for education, you generosity produced a fund of $262,898 mostly for a new educational complex in Sidsar by the Umiya Parivar Educational Trust. 635 students have been enrolled in this new school during the 2008-2009 school year. Again, we would like to thank all of you for your unwavering commitment in supporting basic education to make a difference in someone’s life.

Our commitment to improve the basic health in our community drives many of us back home to engage in various health-related activities. This year, the annual Medical Camp in Upleta was attended by many of our physicians from here and had received handsome donations from our members.  We have been collaborating with our community physicians in India to develop a mechanism for preventative and therapeutic health programs for our community.

Our next challenge is to have safe & clean portable drinking water. Diarrhoeal illness and other waterborne diseases is a major cause of death in mainly children and the elderly. In addition, these illnesses put a significant burden to our health care spending. We have undertaken projects to ensure clean and safe drinking water to an entire village. Our first safe water project in Khambhla was completed in December of 2008, and the entire village is able to get safe and clean water. Our next safe water project for Verad is in progress.  We have already received sponsors for more than 15 villages.  We have also undertaken another project to provide toilet bathroom units to any Kadwa Patidar Family who does not have it in their home. You can sponsor each unit for only $150. If you like to get more information or like to get involved in his project, please contact any of our committee members or contact Bhanji Kundaria at bdkundaria@yahoo.com.

On the social and cultural front, KPSNA continues to actively promote all the cultural and social activities through its local chapters. We also sent some funds back home to promote such activities. Mr. Chiman Delwadia, along with many volunteers and NGO’s, has implemented rainwater harvesting for irrigation and drinking water. The pilot project has already yielded unbelievable results.

We are continuously collecting donations for all the projects. We understand that not all our community members are actively involved in the charitable projects. We would appreciate if you can spread the word in your circle of family and friends.

We urge you all to continue your generous support for these noble charitable activities to help our community members. We also want to take this opportunity to thank the PCA of USA for their tremendous support in handling the funding for all of the charitable activities for KPSNA.

The following is the financial summary of charitable activities up to 2/15/2009.
